Moondream

Moondream announced on October 14 that Prime Intellect had acquired it. Moondream Cloud inference and Lens are scheduled to shut down on November 13, 2026. The announcement says unspent purchased credits will be refunded and customers will receive migration help. Open model availability is a separate commitment.

Why it matters

For a current customer, service continuity matters more than treating an acquisition as a new model release.

Which service is changing

The announced shutdown concerns Moondream Cloud inference and Lens. It does not say that every open checkpoint disappears. Keep the cloud endpoint your application uses separate from the model files you can operate yourself.

Prepare a migration around an actual request

Inventory the endpoint, authentication method, input formats and outputs your application consumes. Save the model/version and a small set of permitted test inputs. Compare response fields, latency and costs on the replacement before switching traffic; this is a migration checklist, not a claim that Prime is a drop-in API replacement.

Credits and customer communication

The company states that unused purchased credits will be refunded and that it will contact customers with next steps. Check the official notice and your account communications for your balance and destination. The announcement does not prove that a specific customer’s refund or migration is complete.

Continue with the right evidence

Use the model repository for checkpoint and license details, and the service documentation for a current endpoint contract. A corporate transaction does not establish a new model version, benchmark result or generally available replacement API.
